Fred Strahl Jr. married, but had no children. He moved to Kankakee, Illinois in 1919 where he ran a "soft drink parlor" at 260 South East Avenue. A front page Kankakee Daily Republican newspaper story describes him as "a leader of the bootleg industry in Kankakee" and reports his murder in the alley behind his establishment. His probate is found in Kankakee County Circuit Court, File #482.
