    Max Snyder, age 82, of Winn returned to our Lord Wednesday November 3, 2004 at the Masonic Pathways Nursing Home in
    Alma
    Freeman Max Snyder was born on May 27, 1922 to James Kellogg Snyder and Rachel Mae (Moray) on the Snyder family centennial farm, originally owned by his great uncle and great aunt, George W. and Emma (Robbins) Fox, near Winn. Max moved to Lansing in 1947 were he met and married Ann Annis on August 6, 1949 prior to returning to Winn in 1951. He retired from Central Michigan University in 1984. Following his retirement, Max and his wife Ann pursued volunteer work for the Meals on Wheels Program.
    Max was raised to Master Mason in the Blue Lodge in 1945. He is a life member of the Salt River lodge in Shepherd, and was a member and Past Master of the Cedar Valley Lodge in Winn and of the Eastern Star, Coe Chapter of Shepherd, MI where he served as Grand Representative for Washington State in 1993. He was a member of the Winn Methodist Church and also attended the Central Michigan Free Methodist Church.
    Max is survived by 1 brother Harold (Bessie) Snyder of Winn and 3 sisters, Inez Myers of Lansing, Wilma Slee of Bath and Louise Stiffler of Holt: 2 sisters-in-law, Fran Annis of Barryton and Ila Snyder of St. Louis. Max was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years Ann in 2000, and by 2 brothers John Wesley and James Ray.
    The family would like to give our thanks and appreciation to the Michigan Masonic Pathways Home and to Hospice of Michigan for their care and assistance.
