FRED WILKE DIES AT LOCAL HOSPITAL

Had Been Resident of Nashua for Past Seventy-Four Years

  Nashua, Nov. 9    Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Lutheran church at two o'clock for Fred Wilke, who passed away Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital. Rev. Geo Boyer officiated at the services. The choir sang two hymns, "Rock of Ages" and "Asleep in Jesus", accompanied by Mrs. N.E. Mohagen, organist.
  Pallbearers were Lester and Elden Miller, August and William Wilke and Clarence and Edward Kaths.
  Interment was made at Riverside Cemetery.
  Fred Wilke, who was seventy-seven years old, has been a resident of Nashua for the past 74 years, living in this vicinity and only a few weeks ago he and his wife moved into the village to make their home. It was while getting up at night to turn on the light that he fell and fractured his hip several days ago. He was rushed to the hospital and died following a heart attack.
  He was born September 4, 1873 in St. Paul and came to Nashua with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wilke when only three years old.
  On May 21, 1899, he was married to Anna Ewert, who was with one daughter. Mrs. John Miller Clara and two sons, Reinhart of Battle Lake and Paul of Nashua survive.  Other survivors include five sisters, one brother, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. One daughter preceded her father in death in 1935. 
  Mr. and Mrs. Wilke observed their golden wedding at the Nashua hall in 1949. He had made many friends and was well known throughout the community being one of the oldest citizens in point of residence.
  Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Julius Miller and Mr. Wedid of Long Prairie; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey ?Shipling. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baumgard and son of Garden City, Mr and Mrs. William Wilke, Mr. August Wilke, Miss Augusta Wilke, and Mr. Harley ?Lavgr of Chokio. Mr and Mrs. Rinehart Wilke and family of Battle Lake. Mrs. John Roberts of Fairmount. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Keeney and family of Breckenridge, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Miller of Elbow Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller of Wendell
