BIOGRAPHY:

Protestant. In charge of the Research Dept, Botanical Garden, New York City. In Feb 1923 he went ot Puerto Rico, at the request of the Puerto Rico govt, to make an extensive study of the fungi of the island from an economic aspect, returning to the States in April. The Journal of the NY Botanical Garden, Vol 24, 99-101, May 1923, printed his report on "Mycological Work in Porto Rico and the Virgin Islands". A biography appeared in the Journal of NY Botanical Garden, Oct 1916, pg 268:

Exper. Station, spring 1904. M.S. 1904. PhD 1912. expl. expd. N. Mexico. State Univ Iowa spring 06. fellow, Columbia Univ 1906-07, and NY Bot. Garden 1906-07. Instructor, botany, State Univ Iowa summer 1903-04, asst. bot. 1904-05 Iowa Wesleyan Univ 1905-06, prof. biol 1906, asst. prof. set. N. Dakota Agric. College and Mycologist agric. exp. station 1907-08. Dir. of Lab. NY Bot Gardens 1908-11. Curator, 19--. Mrs. William Larrabee research prize, Torrey botany club, Bot. Soc. Am, Columbia Univ. Biochemical Assoc, Sigma Xi; assoc editor Mycologia 1909-??, Editor NY Bot. Garden Journal 1911-12. Mycology, phytopathology, taxonymy, morphology and physiology of "zoozydates". Between 1904 and 1915 Mr Seaver published 30 papers on subjects named above. When approached on the subject of the Seaver 'Family Tree' he said: "I have always been very much interested in trees, but the one you refer to is a kind which has received verey little of my attention. In fact, I have been so busy looking after my posterity that I have had little time to even think of my ancestors". (JMSeaver)
