1850 census lived in Emmet, Calhoun Co. Mich? Fred M. Sanderson was born in Watertown, Jefferson Co. New York on April 14 1841. At the age of 8 (1849/50) he moved with his parents to Hillsdale Co., Michigan and lived there until 1864. He married Rachel Hagaman Jan 20 , 1861. She was from Fayette Co., PA. They had 6 children, 3 of whom grew up. Clara (Moray), Jode, and Emlon Sanderson. Jan 1865 they moved to Fremont Township, Isabella County, Michigan where he homesteaded land known as the Masters farm. He helped survey Isabella County and worked in lumber woods. For many years he conducted a general store in Winn (used to be Dushville named after the father of William Dush who married Clara Sanderson (nee Covey) after John died.) it burned on December 1, 1908. He passed away April 19, 1915. Obituary "Frederick M. Sanderson was born in Herman Twp., St. Lawrence Co., N. Y., April 14, 1841 and departed this life at his home near Winn, Mich., April 19, 1915 t the age of 74 years and five days. At the age of eight years, he with his parents moved to Hillsdale Co., Michigan, where he lived until the winter of 1864. On Jan. 20, 1861 he was united in marriage to Rachel B. Hagerman. to this union six children were born, three of whom, Henry D., William E., and Archie M. have gone on before. On Jan. 2, 1865 he with his fam- ily settled in Fremont Twp., and in the fall of that year moved on the ladn which he homesteaded, now known as the Masters farm. At this time the country was a vast wilder- ness, with but few inhabitants, ther- bering but six houses between Young's corners and Millbrook. there were no roads. Mr Sanderson being among the earliest pioneers was closely associated with its entire history and assisted in the division of the town- ships and in the naming of the new township, Rolland, thus formed. For many years he conducted a suc cessful business in a general store at Winn, being burned out in 1908 he retired from business and later moved into the home where he spent the last years of his life. Shortly after going out of business he was afflicted with paralysis, which caused him much suffering of body and mind Early in life he was confirmed in the Episcopal church and in his later years he endeavored to live a godly and devoted life, He leaves to mourn his departure his aged wife, one daughter Mr. Clara Moray of Marcellus, Mich., two sons, Joseph F. of Farwell, Mich., and Em- lon F. of Fremont Twp., eighteen grand children, three great grand children, two brothers, beside many nieces and nephews and other rela- tives and a host of friends. He was a loving husband, a kind and affectionate father an a true friend. The funeral was conducted from the Delo church, rev. D. Tanner of- ficiating. Interment was dame in the Union cemetery, under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity and the Eastern Star. Mt. Pleasant Times Thu.
