Although the fourth of seven children of Richard Norman & Mary Lewis, Frederick was the only one to outlive his mother.
Frederick moved to Bedford in the 1860s and in 1869 was living at Battison Street where he was residing when he married Ann Smith Berwick, also from Husborne Crawley, of the same address at Bedford St Paul's on 26 September 1869. His occupation was given as an engineer, hers was not given.
By 1871 they were living at 27 Britannia Road, Bedford with their eldest daughter. Frederick is described as an agricultural engine fitter
By 1881 they had moved to 43 Muswell Road, Bedford and had 5 children
By 1891 they had settled in Offa Road, Bedford and had 7 children, in 1891 they lived at no 7
In 1901 they were still at no 7 with 5 children still at home
By 1911 they were living at no 1 with their 3 unmarried daughters and Frederick is described as a mechanical engineer. The census entry confirms the earlier death of 2 of their children
Frederick died at 1 Offa Road leaving £1095 14s 11d. Probate was granted on 5 September 1916 at Northampton to his widow and her brother Charles Berwick.
The houses in Offa Road were built in 1878.
