Father of Dr. John Frederick May and brother of Dr. Geo. W. May, infra. Died Jan. 23, 1847. Came to Washington in 1795. Physician to the Eastern Cholera Hospital in 1832; member of National Institute, Patholog. Society of Washington, and first Board of Health, Washington. In 1823, on the establishment of the Med. Dept. Columbian College, Washington, he was appointed Professor of Obstetrics. See Minutes Med. Society, Jan. 25, 1847, published in Boston Med. and Surg.
