Facts and Events
Frederick started working in his father (George Judkin's) flour mill at the age of 14 years. Frederick went gold mining up at the Palmer river, near Cooktown when he was 17. A bit of ill feeling developed in the family when older brother David Henry came to visit but the work was too hard. He tried to take Frederick's horse and ride back to Cairns. A horse could have ment the difference between life and death back then if the aboriginals attacked. Frederick married an English lady, Gabriell Simon and they had their first daughter, Ida Margerie. They separated some time after that and Gabriell went back to England but she returned to Frederick during the First World War. They had three more children. Frederick continued to work in various mines and there contracted lung desease from which he eventually died. His widow then returned to England where she still had family.
