FRJ was born in Humbleton, near Hull, in Yorkshire, England, June 8, 1829. He married 18aug1851 Rebecca Chappell in Melbourne, AUS. In 1860 they went to California. FRJ and Rebecca had nine children: William Harold, Robert P., Elenor J., Frederick R., John H., Mary Helen., Issac J., Frederick E.K., and Arthur C.(The last 3 children listed probably died during the trip to the States.) FRJ and Rebecca finally settled in the Greenwood, California area in the late 1870's. FRJ went on to be justice of the peace in Greenwood (L. Steward).
