Living in Bucksport with his family at 1900 census. 1920 census shows him married, but living without wife with brother George in Bucksport. "Early yesterday morning a building, known as Spofford's farm house, on the outskirts of the village of Bucksport, belonging to Hon. Parker Spofford and occupied by Fred Wardwell, wife and baby, burned. Mr. Wardwell succeeded, with the help of the few first ones to arrive, in saving most of his furniture, but the buildings were entirely consumed; loss about $800." -Bangor Whig & Courier 04 February 1896 "Fred D. Wardwell arrived home one day to find his wife in bed with another man. She thereafter left with the man, leaving her three children in the house alone. The youngest of the children was a baby in the cradle. After the wife left with another man, they also had children.
