Fred Perry Hess died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, April 15th, at his home on Woodlawn avenue, Lowville, death being due to angina pictoria. He had been in ill health for two years, but only confined to his bed for ten days. He was born in Greig, June 5, 1856, second son of Alexander and Ann Higby Hess. Nearly his entire life was spent in Greig, where he was a farmer until coming to Lowville in the fall of 1918. He was a charter member of Greig Grange. In February, 1878, he married Hattie E. Edwards, who died March 16, 1923. His second wife was Mrs. Fannie Fish, who survives. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. William Alvut, Turin; one son Glenn W. Hess, Lowville; Three grandchildren, Spencer, Lyman and Luella Hess; three brothers, Clayton Hess, Avon; Elmer Hess, Lyons Falls; Martin Hess, Sauquoit; one sister, Mrs. Charles Northrup, Rubana, O., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. from the home, 32 Woodlawn avenue, with Rev. E. S. Beebe, pastor of Lowville Methodist church, officiating. Burial in Rural cemetery.
