In 1840 there is only one Mealer in the Lumpkin Co., GA census:
1840 Lumpkin Co., GA census; 821st Dist.; page 257; James Mealer:
2 males under age 5
2 males age 15-20
1 male age 20-30
1 female age 5-10
2 females age 20-30

I assume James would be the male aged 20-30, 1 of the females aged 20-30 would be his wife, the 2 males under age 5 and the 1 female age 5-10 would probably be his children. That leaves the 2 males age 15-20 and 1 female age 20-30. I think perhaps one of the males could be Franklin, and possibly he and James are brothers. The other male and female perhaps are other siblings. This is only a guess and as of right now I don't know who the parents of either of them are. There are no Mealer's at all in Lumpkin Co., GA in the 1830 census.
I wonder about the Nancy Miller in the household with Franklin in 1850. Could his name at one time have been Miller and then changed to Mealer, following the spelling of other families in the area of his location of that surname?
