Facts and Events
[v15t0604.FTW] [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 2, Ed. 1, Tree #4877, Date of Import: Oct 13, 1993] We have census records of Francis Marion starting in 1850 in Carroll Co, TN. He was listed as 24 on the first census and he was already married and had three children. His Mother-in-law, Elizibeth Rumley, was also enumerated with Francis. He also appears on the 1860 census in Carroll Co. where David first shows up. Francis Marion continues to appear on the 1870 and 1880 census of Carroll Co, TN. His name changes from one census to the other, one time being called Marion and another time it will be listed as Francis M. or just F.M. The 1880 census shows that Francis is living alone so we can assume that Nancy has died by this time. We also found a marriage record of him to a Nancy King in the court house. This marriage took place on Aug 19, 1880. We have no further record of him after thi We don't know who the parents are of Francis. There were several Rhodes familys living in western TN during this time period, and according to the census records, it could have been one of many. One good possibility though is a man named Z.B. Rhodes listed on the 1840 census of Haywood Co, TN. Haywood Co. is located about two counties southwest of Carroll Co. The main reason that I have picked this man as a possibility is that Francis named his first son Zachariah. (Look at the 1840 census records of TN and there are about nine other Rhodes living in Henderson or Haywood counties that could be the father of Francis. Z.B. also shows up on the Carroll county census in 1850, 1860, and 1870. On the 1860 census his name was given as Zachariah. On the 1880 census he is missing but a lady named Telitha is there which I think may be Z.B.'s 2nd wife. One of Francis daughter's was named Talitha or Telitha. References
