MILITARY, Civil War - PVT, Company B, Indiana Infantry 13. Enlisted Dec 1863 for 3 years at the age of 18 (when he enlisted he was actually 2 days short of 16). Mustered out in Vicksburg, Mississippi Nov 1865. Sanford says that his military record shows that he went AWOL for three months and the army hired a bounty hunter to find him (they did, in New Albany). He was returned to his company and the bounty hunter was awarded the 3 months pay. He was injured when the "saddle mule" bolted as they pulled a freight wagon. The wagon ran over him. DESCRIPTION, According to his Civil War Registration Card, he was 5'6', light hair, olive complexion. OCCUPATION, fisherman. He eventually became a "driver" for Shrader Bros. Furniture and at J. Bradgon Co., New Albany City Directory gives the following addresses, 1868 N.S.
