Abstract from Chester County, PA

LONG, Francis, West Nantmell, Yeoman 4 Dec 1749 27 Feb 1749/50 Provides for his wife, Rebecca; maintenance for his mother and his brother John LONG; sons John and William to be put to trades and estated divided between them when they come of age; sons are to pay £60 to their sister Agnes when she comes of age. The will is signed. Executors: Andrew WILLSON and John COLBERSON Witnesses: Thomas GREEN, John HENDERS, William DARLINTON mentions a brother Joseph LONG


Possible relation to William Long of Augusta County, VA

There is a strong possibility of a relation (possible sibling?) to William Long of Augusta County, VA. William Long named one of his children Francis, and two of Francis Long's sons, John and William Long sold land to William Long in 1766 (record listed below) and apparently migrated to Augusta County, VA by about 1760.

Francis Long was born in Northern Ireland about 1703 of English ancestry. Francis with his mother and two brothers, John and Joseph, emigrated to America and settled in Chester County, Pennsylvania between 1725-1730. In 1735, Francis married Rebecca in Chester County, PA. They had three children: Agnes, John and William. Francis Long died in 1749.
William Long, son of Francis and Rebecca Long was born in 1746 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. In 1770, he married Agnes Culbertson (born 1749), daughter of Samuel and Jennett Shields Culbertson of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. In 1790 with their eight children, they came to Kentucky and settled on a farm about eight miles from Lexington. William died 1818 and Agnes died 1829. Their children are: Samuel Culbertson, Robert, Rebecca, William, Isaac, Hester, Elizabeth and Alexander.
Samuel Culbertson Long, born 1771, son of William and Agnes Long, settled in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. He married Joannah Culbertson, daughter of Capt. John Culbertson of Muhlenberg County. He died in 1847 and she died 1850 near Central City, Kentucky. Their children are: Agnes, John Culbertson, Robert, Joseph, Elizabeth, Isaac, Mary, Rebecca.
