Francis Price Hamilton was born on 02 Jan 1786 in Sussex, New Jersey, the son of James Hamilton and Sarah Ann Price. Francis Hamilton was named for his mother's father. He married the eldest daughter of Joseph Sharp, Jr., Nancy (or Anne), who was brought up by her grandmother, Grace Sharp, the Quakeress. She gave them a large sum of money to purchase the farm where they lived. This farm was purchased by Dr. Samuel Fowler, sometime previously, for %8 per acre. Dr. Fowler sold it for $22 per acre; and in more recent times it has been valued as high as $120 per acre[1].

Francis Hamilton was listed in the "Sussex Register" as a commissioner (meeting held at Francis' home, August 17, 1827)[2]; and was elected Coroner, October 18, 1830[2]. He died on 28 Jan 1868[5]. He is buried in Hamburg Baptist Cemetery where a Hamilton memorial was erected by his son John B Hamilton provided for in his will.

Francis Hamilton's will was probated in Sussex, New Jersey,1868[6]. The will names his wife and children
