F.O. FRANCIS ORMOND GILMORE. 26, Halifax bomber pilot, reported missing on August 3, 1944, is now listed as missing, presumed dead. His aircraft failed to return from a daylight raid on enemy targets north of Paris. It was his 21st operation. A brother, Sqdn.–Ldr. Edward Gilmore, D.F.C., also a Halifax pilot, has been missing since April 5, 1943. Enlisting in May, 1942, F.O. Gilmore trained at St. Catherines and won his wings and commission at Dunnville. He went overseas in September, 1943. Born in Toronto, youngest son of Frank Gilmore, Wolverleigh Blvd., and the late Mrs. Gilmore, he was educated at De La Salle, Oaklands, and graduated from the University of Toronto. Prior to enlistment, he was on the optometry staff of the Robert Simpson Co.
