HAGERSTOWN - Francis John Getty, 58, native of Grantsville, died suddenly this morning at his home here. He was a son of the late John and Annie (Dorsey) Getty. Mr. Getty had served as principal of North Potomac Street Junior High School here for the past 15 years. He had been in the teaching profession 32 years. Mr. Getty attended Frostburg State Teachers College, the University of Maryland, University of Buffalo, University of Wisconsin and the Naval Academy. He was a past president of the Secondary School Principals Association of Maryland and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church here. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Vivian (Powers) Getty; a daughter, Kathy Getty, a student at Georgetown University, and a sister, Mrs. Joseph Fahey, Grantsville. The body is at the Suter-Rouzer Funeral Home here. Requiem Mass will be celebrated Saturday 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Church and interment will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Grantsville Cemetery.
