Francis Bernard "Frank" Connolly was born 4 May 1876 in California, the son of Bernard Francis Connolly and Minnie Baylis. Frank was the Secretary-Editor of a Grocery Industry publication, "The Retail Grocers' Advocate", the publication of the California Retail Grocers and Merchants Association, the predecessor of the California Grocers Association (CGA). He also served as President of the National Association of Retail Grocers during the years 1915-1919, and likely longer.
