BIOGRAPHY: Brayton Family History Volume I By Clifford Ross Brayton, Jr. 1978 Page 3 Town records of the Town of Portsmouth, R.I. state that Francis Brayton was admitted as a Freeman, on 30 Apr 1672. In May 1679, he was a Lieutenant and a member of the General Assembly of Portsmouth.
