Information on Francis Benton
- Francis Benton received a patent in Nansemond County, Virginia on Dec. 16, 1673 and another on April 21, 1695. His land was listed as on the NW side of the S branch of Nansemond Rover, beginning at the mouth of Powell's Creek on Widow Hill's land. To receive the land, he had imported three persons: Andrew Brasseur, Richard Jossey, and John Lovegrove. (Note: since Francis Benton was old enough to acquire land in 1673, his birthdate would have been at least before 1653, likely close to 1650 or before).
- In 1704, Nansemond County, Virginia rent rolls, there were: Epaphroditus Benton, Francis Benton and John Benton.
