Frances Treadaway Arrington, 79, of Cleveland, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2011.

Frances came to know the Lord at age 12, and she loved her Savior Jesus Christ.

She was a longtime member of North Cleveland Church of God where she served in various capacities, including serving on the Christian Education Board, establishing the church library, ministering to shut-ins and the bereaved, and teaching preschoolers. She was a longtime member of the Geneva Circle, and an early member of the Unity Class.

Frances served the Lord at Lee University for almost fifty years, including twenty-four years as Director of the Lee College Library/William G. Squires Library. Frances was instrumental in the expansion of the Library, including several phases of automation. Following her retirement, she volunteered with the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center, where for the last two years she focused on organizing the archives of Lee University.

Frances was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was a steady model of faith and service for her family and friends.

Mrs. Arrington was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Treadaway and Minnie Rush Treadaway, and her brothers, John (Geneva) Treadaway and Fred (Goldie) Treadaway.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Dr. French L. Arrington, former Chairman of the Department of Bible and Theology at Lee University and Professor Emeritus of the Church of God Theological Seminary; sister Nancy Treadaway Smith of Fultondale, Alabama; daughter Athena (Gary) Hicks of Chattanooga; son Lee (Traci) Arrington of Cleveland; grandsons Travis Arrington and Trent Arrington of Cleveland; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Frances' life was held Thursday at 12 noon in the North Cleveland Church of God Dixon Chapel with the Rev. Keith Bates officiating. Clergy friends Dr. Randy Eaton, Rev. Mitchell Maloney, Rev. Gary Sears, and Rev. Donald Logan, as well as Dr. Ted Gee, Dr. Carolyn Dirksen, and Lee Arrington will offer thoughts and memories.
