BIRTH-DEATH-BURIAL: Lynnville Cemetery Records (B21). NOTE: Cemetery records give her maiden name as Stout, and her surname at burial as Neff, from her 1st marriage. NAME: Birth record for her son Edwin G. (WPA Micro-fiche for Warrick Co., IN, 1882-1920, Book H-10, p 8) give her surname as "Stant." CENSUS: 1900 US Census, Hart, Warrick, IN. BIOGRAPHY: Excerpt from "CHARLES OTIS NEFF" by Joan Vickers. "Charles Otis Neff was born in Zanesville, Ohio on 19 March 1878, the son of Frances J. Stout Van Zandt Neff and Charles Neff. Otis Neff is first found on the 1880 Warrick Co Indiana census, age two, with his widowed mother Frances (who married Edwin Austin later that year). Since his mother was born and reared in Warrick County, she probably moved back to be closer to her brother’s family after the death of her husband Charles Neff. Otis had an Austin half-brother and sister (Edwin G. Austin - died young; Florence E. who married - perhaps a Thompson - died in 1905 leaving one son who did not live to adulthood) from the Austin marriage as well as a number of step-siblings. The Austin step-siblings were: Joseph Sanford Austin (m. Lucy Gore), Julia Adaline (m. William Fleener), Ida Ann (m. ? Miller), Martha Jane Leni Leota - died young, Lilian Edna (m. Fred Mueller), Lucy Olive (m. Louis Fleener), Eva Leversa (m. Wm. N. Cox). |
