Frances Ann Patton, was the daughter of Alexander Patton and Nancy F (unknown).

Frances A "Potter" (sic), the daughter of Alexander and Nancy F. Potter (sic)) married Wm L Patterson, on 29 Nov 1866 in Rockbridge County, Virginia.

    On the 1850 Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found farmer Alexander Patton, 40; Nancy, 39; Elizabeth S, 13; Mary J, 11; FRANCES A, 9; Charlotte B, 7; James F, 5; all VA born.

On 8 Apr 1853, sister Cornelia A Patten (sic), died in Rockbridge Co., the daughter of Alex and N Patten (FS).

On the 1860 Dist. 6, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found farmer Alexander Patten, 52; Nancy Patten, 50; Mary Patten, 21; FANNY Patten, 20; Charlotte Patten, 17 and James Patten, 15, all VA born. Ancestry indexes "Patten" but it looks like Patton.

28 Sep 1869, her sister Chalotte (sic) B Patton, 24, born in Rockbridge Co., the daughter of Alex and Nancy F Patton, married in Rockbridge Co. to Thompson S Brown, 33, born in Augusta to parents Jno and Isabella Brown (FS).

On the 1870 South RIver, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found her father, farmer Alexr. Patton, 62 and Mary J Patton, 30, both VA born. (Ancestry lists him as Alex. T, but two lines down, another Alex r. appears where the little "r." is raised and commonly was a shorted version of Alexander.) Widower Alex Patton, the son os John and Sally Patton, married second to Susan M Carson, daughter of John and Margaret Carson, on 1 Dec 1870 in Rockbridge Co.

On the 1870 Natural Bridge, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found miller Wm L Patterson, 35; Fannie A Patterson, 28; Carry Nelson Patterson, 3; Nannie Bell Patterson, 1 and farm laborer, Erasmus Palmer, 16, all VA born.

20 Jun 1876, her sister Charlotte B Brown dies in Rockbridge. She was the wife of Thompson S Brown and her parents are listed as Alex and Nancy Patton (FS).

22 Apr 1879, her sister Mary J Patton, age 39, the daughter of Alex. and N F Patton, married Jas W Stoner, 39, son of Jacob and F Stoner, in Rockbridge Co. Both Mary and James were born in Rockbridge Co., also (FS).

On the 1880 Walkers Creek, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found W. L. Patterson, 45; wife Fanny A. Patterson, 38; daughters: Caroline Patterson, 13; Nancy Patterson, 11; Mary V. Patterson, 9; Elizabeth Patterson, 6; Ada B. Patterson, 4 and son William F. Patterson, 1, all VA born.
