A telegram was received yesterday by Mrs. Frances Kirby-Smith Wade, wife of Erwin M. Wade, informing her of the unexpected death of her mother, of Sewanee, Tenn. She was the widow of the late General Edmund Kirby-Smith, and was with him in every Civil War engagement from Bull Run to Appomattox. She was a Miss Selden of Virginia and a sister of Col. William Selden, proprietor of the famous Metropolitan Hotel in Washington. She was 68 years of age.
