Times-Courier, 5 Feb 1996: FRANCES SHADE Kansas--Frances Ellen Shade, 79, of Kansas died at 5:20 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 4, 1996) at Mattoon Convalescent Center. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Kansas United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tony Allen and the Rev. Phil Snider officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery near Kansas. Visitation will be ... She was born Jan. 28, 1917 in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Claud and Almeda Honnold Durgee. She married Preston B. Shade in 1941; he survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Shirley) Wilkes of San Mateo, Calif., Mrs. Ray (Sarrah) Eheart of Carmel, Ind., and Mrs. Michael (Suzanne) Kern of Kansas; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother. Mrs. Shade was a former high school teacher. She was a member of the Kansas United Methodist Church, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter K.P. of Paris. She was a 50-year member of the Kansas Women's Club; and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star of Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Kansas United Methodist Church. References
