Frances married Joseph on 30 May 1820 at Garland Hill, Hanover County, Virginia, in a ceremony officiated by the Rev. John D. Blair (a/k/a "Parson Blair", who is buried nearby). She was Joseph's second wife, after Catherine C. Richards.
Frances was the mother of Joseph Sheppard Jr., and twins Edward William and Lucy Temple. She died age 31 during or just after giving birth to the twins.
