- ↑ Description: See notes for more on Forrest
- ↑ 25.0 25.1 I DO have one memory of Uncle Forrest that I would like to share, though. And this was probably about the time that we were living on Euclid. Uncle Forrest was driving a Manor Bakery wagon. (Uncle Forrest later joined the K.C. police force and spent many years with the police, eventually retiring with a high rank). The Manor Bakery had these horse-drawn wagons that delivered bread and pastries to homes throughout Kansas City. Uncle Forrest had a route and a few times he took me with him. I would sit up on the seat beside him and he would let me hold the reins. I was sure that I was in complete charge of that horse, but actually the horse knew the route better than Uncle Forrest, and knew just where and when to stop and where to turn.
- ↑ Two of Byie's brothers (Uncle Ellis and Uncle Forrest) had gone to France with the ambulance corps. Byie used to have a faded newspaper clipping with pictures of Uncle Forrest and Uncle Ellis, telling how they were the youngest pair of brothers in the Kansas City area to go to France
