Floyd Ray Forbes Sr.

Mr. Floyd Ray Forbes Sr., 69, of Madisonville passed away at 12:21 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at his home. He was born Feb. 12, 1939, in Hopkins County to the late Albert and Madelyn Hendricks Forbes. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Alberta Rickard. Mr. Forbes was a member of Pond River Baptist Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel.

Mr. Forbes is survived by his wife, Brenda Faye Forbes of Madisonville; four sons, Floyd Ray Forbes Jr. of Cadiz, Melvin Thomas Forbes of Prophetstown, Ill., Randall Keith Forbes of Cadiz and Albert Daniel Forbes of Hopkinsville; a sister, Joyce Cates of Anton; two brothers, James Forbes of Madisonville and Terry Forbes of Slaughters; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby McKnight officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery in Hanson. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Keenan Forbes, Shane Cates, Kenny Cates, Billy Pate, Nathan Forbes, Daniel Forbes and Jerry Forbes. Honorary pallbearers will be Elijah Forbes and Bryson Brown.
