Flossie graduated from Simpson College and taught English and drama at Kellerton, IA where she met husband Luther. During her divorced years, Flossie was a court stenographer, and taught that skill at Des Moines Business College.

During the 1960's she was president of Des Moines YWCA, active DM First Methodist Church lay leader (IA state pres. of Meth. Women; Chair of Board for Meth. Esther Hall for working women, Board member at Meth. Wesley Acres Retirement and Nursing Home, etc.). She was a PEO member and officer. Played good piano by ear. One of the real angels on earth; no one will ever know all of her many contributions to others. I admired and loved her very much, as did her entire family and hundreds of friends.

References
  1. Flossie died in Des Moines Methodist Hospital after several weeks of pain from cancer. Her daughter, Ruth E. Braught, was with her much of those days and when she deceased, as was her husband, Luther. The funeral held at First Methodist Church in Des Moines was exceptionally well attended for this lady who had been state chairman of the Iowa Methodist Womens Assn. and a stalwart member of this church for many year.
  2. Flossie is buried at West Des Moines Resthaver Cemetery on Ashworth Road.
