    SCHOLTEN, Evert John, age 73 years, of Lynden, Route 3, passed away at his home Wednesday, July 29, (1953) following a lingering illness. Mr. Scholten had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Martha; eight daughters, Mrs. Richard Van Heuvelen, Mrs. Henrietta Gertzen, Mrs. Ralph Romberg, Mrs. Dave Douma, all of Lynden; Mrs. Ted Weirauck, of Bellingham; Mrs. Henry Romberg, of Paramount, Calif.; Mrs. Wesley Franklin, Sedro Woolley; Mrs. Kenneth Balzer, Concrete; one son, Cornelius DeBondt; two sisters, Mrs. C. Berendson and Mrs. G. J. Jensen, both of Lynden; four brothers, Joe, William, Hein and Bert W., all of Lynden; 30 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 4, at 2:00 p.m. within the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale. Interment, Greenacres Memorial Park.
