"At the time of their decision to emigrate to America, Evert Dircksen was a widower and Annetje Dircx was a widow...In the early part of 1663 they boarded the ship De Arent (The Eagle), from Amsterdam, commanded by Captain Peter Cornelius Bez. Evert Dircksen had with him his two children aged thirteen and six years. Annetje Dircx had a her four year old child with her. They arrived at New Amsterdam (now New York City) on 15 March 1663."
