OBITUARY: debbymc4 Posted: 14 May 2005 10:29PM Rites Held for Everett Fiske, Dean of Firemen Funeral services for Everett F. Fiske, 91, of 34 Pleasant St., West Warwick, were held early this afternoon from the Frank R. Gorton and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Firby, pastor of the Hope-Phenix United Methodist Church, officiated. Delegates from all Valley fire companies and from the Rhode Island State Fireman's League were in attendance. members of the Warwick Lodge No. 16 F&AM offered a memorial service with chaplains William T. Holden Jr. and Raymond A. Manning, and Raymond F. Havens, tyler, officiating. Honorary bearers were Elmer Capwell, Waldo Whaley, Wilton P. Hudson, George A. Battey and Ralph B. Remington. Bearers were Howard F. Wheelock, Donald B. Goddard, Earl R. Handy, Niles A. Oberg, Norman A. Picard and Robert B. Joslin. Mr. Fiske, husband of Beulah D. (Knight) Fiske, died Saturday at his home. Mr. Fiske was called the "Dean of Pawtuxet Valley Firemen" in tribute to his many years in fire fighting activities. He was the last surviving member of the Fiskeville Fire District which he served as chief when it was first organized in 1900. He went on to serve the group as district secretary for 46 years, and as secretary of the Pawtuxet Valley Firefighters League for 46 years.
