[edit] Online ObituaryEVELYN MARIE MOORE- Age 95, passed away on October 18, 2009. Moore was born in Goshen, Ohio on August 22, 1914, to Emmett and Ida (Smith) Howard. Ida was the first custodian at the Goshen School, which opened in 1923. Evelyn was raised in a home on the current David Rd. and remembers when the stone wall was built around the Zeisberger Cemetery. Water was borrowed from the family’s well to mix the concrete, she explained. Evelyn loved the Cleveland Indians and was the sister-in-law of baseball great Whitey Moore. She had attended several World Series games with her husband Lester. She was preceeded in death by Lester, two sisters, Kathryn Krocker and Mildred Rausch, both of Goshen and one brother, Donald Howard. [edit] Obituary Printed Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, A5Evelyn Marie Moore, age 95, of New Philadelphia, O., formerly of Tuscarawas, O., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center in New Philadelphia, O., following a period of declining health. Born Aug. 22, 1914, at Goshen, O., Evelyn was the daughter of the late Emmett and Ida (Smith) Howard. Evelyn graduated from Midvale High School in 1932 and was employed at Belmont Stamping for four years. She was a homemaker and attended Sharon Moravian Church in Tuscarawas, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Evelyn helped with the Senior Citizens and crippled children for 10 years. She loved the newspaper, crosswords and reading, but most of all, she never missed listening to or watching all of the Cleveland Indian games. In addition to her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Moore, whom she married in 1937 and who passed away on April 18, 1980; two sisters, Kathryn Krocker and Mildred Rausch, and one brother, Donald Howard. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Carol and Tom Stanley of Tuscarawas, O., and Jean Moore of Columbus, O., two grandchildren, Amy Stanley of Canton, O., and Stacy Martin of Woodstock, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Alexandria Martin of Woodstock, Ga.; several nieces and nephews and two special great-niece and nephew, Cindy Davis and Doug Krocker. In keeping with Evelyn's wishes, no services or calling hours will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Twin City Hospital c/o the Coffee Bar, 918 N. 1st St.,O., 44621.
