Facts and Events
Evelyn Elizabeth Culbertson was born on July 26, 1920, the only child of William Homer Culbertson and Mary Elizabeth Tindel. She grew up in Athens, Texas before attending Baylor University. She was briefly engaged to a man named Dudley before marrying Eugene Campbell. The two of them settled in Dallas, Texas and raised one son. Evelyn worked part time as a substitute teacher and secretary. Evelyn was known to her grandchildren as "Mammaw." She would take care of them when they were home sick from school. She professed to being allergic to dogs, though her son has always insisted it was penicillin on the dog's nose had upset her. She had a cackling laugh that you could easily identify from another room. She loved to talk to just about anyone; her husband often had a hard time getting a word in edgewise. Evelyn was an avid genealogist and collected a great deal of information on her family's history. Her descendants rely heavily on her diligent work as they piece together their ancestry. References
