Eugene Victor "E.V." Lamberson, 70, of West Lafayette, died Dec. 21, 1987, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. A graduate of Klondike High School, he was active in high school athletics. In 1955, he donated the construction of the first football field at Klondike High School. He was honored with a placque presentation at the alumni dinner on the 50th anniversary of his graduation from Klondike for his support of the school's athletic program, which included the donation of work on the football field.
Born in Michigantown in Clinton County, his parents died when he was 9 years old and he came to live in West Lafayette from Clinton County, in 1928. He was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Oval M. Hagerty, and worked with Mr. Hagerty in excavation until purchasing the business from Mr. Hagerty in 1948. He owned and operated E.V. Lamberson Excavating for 30 years, retiring in 1978.
He was married in 1938 to Virginia L. Walters, who died in 1985. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Lafayette, Octagon Masonic Lodge, and Scottish Rite. Surviving are three sons, Melvin E. Lamberson of Elmwood Park, IL; Eugene A. Lamberson of Darien, IL; and Larry A. Lamberson of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a brother, Milo Lamberson; and one sister, Ruth Immel, both of Lebanon. Service Dec. 24 in Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, the Rev. James D. Davidson officiating; internment Grand View Cemetery.
