Obituary

"Esther L. Laure, 88, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, died on Tuesday morning, April 3, in her residence. Mrs. Laure was born on July 25, 1912, in South Bend, Indiana, a daughter of Glen and Hazel [Andrews] Wells. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of her life, and was a corporate Secretary of the W-L Molding Company for 56 years. She also was a former Gray Lady at Bronson Hospital, and enjoyed needlework and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard and Harold Wells; and by a grandson, Christopher Rossio.

On June 10, 1934, she was united in marriage to George R. Laure, who survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Shirley Rossio of Kalamazoo and Barbara J. Mellinger of Costa Mesa, CA; a son, James A. [Debbie] Laure of Vicksburg, 8 grandchildren, Kimberly [Keith] Anderson of Wayland, Michigan, Lisa [Matthew] Benjamin of Smithville, Ohio; Debbie [Kenneth] Magee of Belgrade, Montana; Judy [Mark] Alexander of Huntington Beach, CA; Steve [Amanda] Mellinger of Valparaiso, Indiana; Brandon, Shaylin and Mariah Laure, all of Vicksburg: 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evadene McCormick of South Bend and Jeanette [Robert] Stahl of Antioch, Tennessee; and by many nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Saturday in Langland Family Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 47 East Center Avenue. A private family service will be held.

Memorials may be made to the Michigan Heart Fund, To the American Lung Association, or to Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice."
