  1. There is a footstone in the Riverview Cemetery in South Royalston with her name on it. It is beside those of her siblings and parents. It has her birh year of 1895 on it, but only the digits "19" in the death position.

A letter from Esther Follansbee Taylor Ladeau (cousin by marriage to LeRoy A. Taylor, Esther's cousin) in 1978 mentions her as alive. Quite likely, she is buried elsewhere, and the stone was never removed.
  2. Mom reminisced fondly about “Fab” and Madeline Fabricius and mentioned Esther G. Struthers. I believe that they played a role in my mother meeting my father. For some reason, she never identified Esther S. as my father's cousin. Here is some information about her.

Her mother, Julia (Powers) Struthers and my grandmother, Bessie (Powers) Taylor, were sisters. Royalston was frequently mentioned as where some relatives came from. My research in 2005 revealed that Patrick and Mary (Barr) Powers (both born in Ireland) brought up their family in Royalston. In the 1880 Census, Bessie, 16, Margaret, 22, James, 20, Julia, 19, and Mary Ann, 17, were all living at home and working in the “Woolen Mill”. A history of Royalston places this as being on the Millers River in South Royalston (http://home.att.net/~mensch-family/RoyalstonMassachusettsHistory.html#WOOLEN-MILL <http://home.att.net/~mensch-family/RoyalstonMassachusettsHistory.html>). I suspect that the family was living in South Royalston, not in Royalston center, which is about 5 miles away.

The 1900 Census shows Julia and Henry W. Struthers living in Royalston. He was employed as a blacksmith. Children were Hellen, b 1890, Calvin b. 1892, and Esther, b. 1895. In the 1910 Census, Calvin is not mentioned anywhere in the country! Esther and Hellen are at home, and Henry's occupation is listed as “Shop”. Julia is listed as running a boarding house.

In the 1920 Census, Julia, Henry, and Hellen are listed in Princeton. They may have overlapped the approximately 1 -2 years of Mom's teaching in Princeton. Perhaps that is where Mom met Esther Struthers when she visited her parents. Surprisingly, Esther S. is listed in the 1920 Census as Esther G. Struthers, living in Washington DC at a location which looks like 21 Fed Pince. Her occupation is clerk at Wan****. This was surprising, but the birthplaces of her parents were correct. As further confirmation, in the 1930 Census, Julia is living with Esther in Washington on Columbia Road. Esther is working as a cashier at L. G. Hausmans(?).
