- ↑ MARTIN Passed away in Vancouver on Tuesday, April 27, 1971, following a brief illness, Mrs. Esther Margaret Martin at the age of 61 years, beloved wife of Mr. Donald H. Martin of Slocan, B.C. (formerly of Lethbridge). Born in North Dakota she came to Canada with her family in 1914, residing in the Calgary and Nanton areas until coming to Lethbridge with her husband in 1952. In 1969 she moved with her husband to Slocan, B.C. where she has resided until her passing. The late Mrs. Martin was very active in community affairs and was serving as secretary for the local Centennial committee in her district. She had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge for 15 years and at the time of her passing she was holding for the second time the office of Noble Grand of her lodge. Besides her loving husband she is survived by one daughter, Miss Kathleen Martin, Calgary: two sons, Mr. D. Robert Martin, Cranbrook, Mr. Dennis R. Martin, Lethbridge: seven grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. William (Alice) Willoughby, Lethbridge, Mrs. A. (Helen) Dunn, Vernon, B.C.; two brothers, Mr. Robert Flynn and Mr. Kelly Flynn, both of Vancouver. She was predeceased by one brother. A memorial service will be held at 4 P.M. Monday, May 3, in the Traditional Chapel, 812 - 3 Ave. S. , with Rev. Dr. R.W.K. Elliot officiating. Martin Bros. Ltd. Directors of Funeral Arrangements.
