Ervin Finch Davis, son of James and Amanda Davis, was born in Shelby county, Ohio, June 27, 1837, and died in Milton, May 24, 1927, being 89 years, 10 months and 27 days of age. He was one of a family of three of which two survive, Elizabeth Jane Davis of Garwin, Iowa, and Rev. John T. Davis of Riverside, Calif.
At the age of 24 years, he was married to Sarah Lippincott. Two children were born to them, one, Mrs. Josephine McWilliam, survives. Mr. Davis's first wife died at Garwin Ia., in 1868, and on June 18, 1879, he was married to Lauretta Kesee, who survives him. Three children were born to this union: Dennis A., Janesville; Mrs. Bertha Kepler, Sidney, Neb,; and Earl F., Minneapolis, Minn. Fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Davis served in the Civil war and was the last Milton member of the A. D. Hamilton post, G. A. R.
