According to interview with Luther Allen, Ernie and Madge were travelling photographers of considerable success. Ernie was a family character (loud, smoked cigars, rather inconsiderate and impatient, etc.). This author was rather stimulated (terrified?) by riding with Ernie driving at a family funeral (where he also honked the horn because the procession was not moving sufficiently fast). Madge, however, was mellow and normal. No children to this marriage and no other spouses.
