Ernest worked for the railroad in Illinois and a furniture factory (Kroeler?)


Daughter "Billie" was a favorite of Ernest's. He was having marital difficulty with his wife Ella, so Ella was happy to have him gone for long periods working on the railroad. He came back to visit the family and asked it he could take Billie down to the store. He kidnapped Billie and took her to Missouri. Ella hired a detective to find her, and they found her a year later. Billie had no more contact with her real father, but she liked her 2nd dad John Parbs.

Ernest parents were killed in a horse and buggy accident and a family last name "Francis" raised him.
