Great Falls Tribune (MT) - February 1, 2000 Deceased Name: Ernest Joseph Schreckler CHOTEAU - Ernest Joseph Schreckler, 87, who at one time owned and operated a welding business in Fairfield, died Sunday in Teton County Nursing Home of natural causes. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Teton County Nursing Home. Gorder Funeral Home is handling arrangements. He was born April 25, 1912, in Pendleton, Ore., and was raised and educated in Oregon and near Lewistown. After moving to various places in Montana, North Dakota and Oregon with his family, he moved to Washington state until about 1942, where he worked as a welder in a shipyard during World War II. He lived there until 1945, then lived in areas of Montana, Arizona and California until 1949, when he settled in Great Falls. He moved to Fairfield in 1977 and owned and operated a welding business, retiring in 1977. He married Carol Hill Nov. 1, 1990. She has died. He moved to Teton County Nursing Home on Jan. 28, 1997. He belonged to the Catholic Church while in Great Falls. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, reading, traveling in his trailer and spending winters in Arizona. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Coral Charbonneau of Great Falls and Lylas Robinson of Henderson, Nev. two stepsons, Ted Dawson of Missoula and William Dawson of West Branch, Mich. 10 stepgrandchildren and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren. |
