    Baxter Pioneer Died Sunday (February 11, 1923)

    Erick Romsaas' Funeral will be held today at Baxter Church. (Feb. 15, 1923)
    Had Spent Forty Years in Baxter.
    Was on of the Solid Pioneers Who Made a Garden Spot of the Prarie

    Erick R., whose death was mentioned in the last issue was a pioneer settler of Baxter Township, having lived there nearly 40 years. Mr. Romsaas passed away February 11, 1923 after a illness of 3 weeks duration. Funeral services were held last Thursday at Our Saviour's Church of Baxter. Rev. G. S. Froiland, pastor of the church had gone to Norway Lake to attend the funeral of Rev. Sotendahl on Tues. but on account of the blizzard the funeral could not be held untill Thursday so Rev. P.O. Wee filled Rev. Froiland's place at the Romsaas funeral. Deceased was born May 20, 1853 at Ringebu, Gulbrandalen, Norway. In 1877 he was united to Abelone Romsaas. Seven years later he and his family cam to America, locating June 19 in Baxter Township where he lived until his death. Besides his widow he leaves to mourn his loss 7 children; Emil of Minneapolis, Mrs. Olaf Toftness of Boyd, Martin of Grenville, North Dakota, Mary, Clara, Andor and Elmer. Pallbearers were Theo. A. Thompson, Ole Femo, Anton Mork, Torenius Gilbertson, Ole Uveness and Gullick Hanson.
