According to the Sallie DeWitt 1981 Genealogy, Emma Northum Hudson had a brother, Dr. Northum, of Charleston, Franklin County, Arkansas, and a sister, Talitha Northum Abernathy. According to a re-typed obituary contained within the DeWitt 1981 Genealogy, Talitha died on April 29th (?? year), was 83 years old, and was preceeded in death by her husband William D. Abernathy in 1899. Talitha was a prominent teacher in Franklin County and had two children; M.K. Abernathy and Ms. M. Abernathy Pile. Talitha was buried in the King's Cemetery, Franklin County, Arkansas.

The middle initial 'F' of Emma Northum's name was taken from a tombstone at the King's Cemetery, which said "Leo, Dau. of Dr. K. E. & E. F. Hudson. Died (??) 1887, aged 3 y. 10 m. & 20 d."
