On the Victorian Digger Pioneer index there are two entries for Emma both with the same Registration number. One has her surname as Dixon and the other has Lewis. On the Dixon one the mother's name is given as Ellen Dixon, while on the Lewis one the mother's name is Ellen Dixon-Lewis. The father is "unknown". It appears, however, that she adopted her stepfather's surname, Groves, as Emma Groves is the name on her marriage certificate.
