"William MAY, 37, master mason, his wife Emma, 32, grocer, and their children, Emily 12, Louisa 10, Henry 7, William 5 and Tom 1, were all living somewhere in Silver Street in 1871. Emily was a Scholar at the time, though I can't see her (or Louisa) listed in the village school admissions register (which suggests she may have been a pupil at one of the ephemeral dame schools held in private houses"
1881: This is possibly her in the Census, although she is 2 years old than she should be:

"I shouldn't bother to get the [certificate] for their marriage: it just says that they were married at Thorverton in December 1887, Harry being a 32-year-old Corporal in the RMLI and son of Samuel S, labourer, & Emily being a 28-y-o spinster and daughter of William M, mason, and the witnesses being Louisa Western May and Tom May, whom I assume to be her sister and brother."
