Emily Freeman was the daughter of James Freeman and Sarah Robinson. She married Willis Arthur on 20 June 1821 in Bedford County, Virginia. They were the parents of at least 6 known children: Mary Ellen, James Preston, Caleb, Sarah Jane, Meredith and William Harvey.
Emily was living in South Point, Lawrence County, Ohio as a widow according to the 1880 Federal Census and Willis' military service record. She died in 1880 and several researchers and family members descended from Willis and Emily have recorded her birth and death as 28 February 1796 and 28 June 1880. For the purpose of this memorial, I have added these same dates until other information becomes available. Although not certain, it is very likely that Emily is buried in the Arthur Cemetery in Lawrence County, Ohio where many of her descendants are buried and there are a number of illegible headstones dating from the time of her death.
