Obituary

MRS. EMILY SKELTON.

The funeral of Mrs. Emily Skelton, relict of the late Mr. R. Skelton, who predeceased her by 11 years, proceeded from her late residence, 'Cortref' Maitland-road, May- field, on Monday, to the Methodist Cemetery, Sandgate. The Rev. J. H. Somerville held a service in the house, and also conducted the funeral service at the graveside. The chief mourners were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Payne, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. A. Lewis, Mr and Mrs. W. C. Skelton, Mr. and Mrs. A. Skelton, Mr. and Mrs . G. R. Skelton, Miss Martha Skelton, and Miss Stella Skelton, and Mr. T. C. Wrightson (sons, daughters, daughters-in-law, and sons-in-law respectively), Mr. C. Boots and Mr. J. Boots (brothers), Mrs. C. Boots (sister-in-law), Mr. G. Sanbrook (Sydney) (nephew), Mr. C. Skelton (brother-in-law). The pall-bearers were Messrs. A. Griffiths, A, Walker, O. Gavey, and G. Silcock. The funeral, which was a representative one, was attended by Aid. A. Griffiths (Mayor) and Ald. F. W. Whyte and A. J. Gardiner (Waratah Council), Aid. J. M. L. Cram, W. Gow, T. Carlin, P. O. Jackson, W. Aitchison, H. Brien, R. Payne, E. Richardson, G. Jenner, Mr. G. Percy (Town Clerk), A. W. Cobbitt (Inspector), and G. Keith (representing employees) (Hamilton Council), Aid. C. H. Croft, (Wickham Council, Messrs. W. P. Rodgers and S. F. Webb (Water Board), Mr. G. Mayo (representing Railway Superintendent's Staff), Aid. J. M. Feeney, and Mr , A. L. Adam (Town Cleric) (Raymond Terrace). The deceased, who was in her 74th year, had been a resident of Waratah for 54 years. She is survived by three sons, Messrs. Walter, Archibald, and Gordon Skelton (Mayor of Hamilton), and four daughters, Mrs. J. H. Payne (Ashfield), Mrs. J. E. Lewis (Mayfield), Misses Martha and Stella Skelton.
