Facts and Events
From the registry of St. Annen’s Church (Lutheran) in Eisleben, dated July 28, 1864, and signed by the pastor, it is known that:
1 – Her father was Louis Graf. His occupation is listed as “tenant farmer.” 2 – Her mother was Emilie nee Hartmann. 3 – She was given the name Emilie Auguste (not Augusta). When she arrived in America and for the remainder of her life she went by the name “Marie.” She did not like the name Auguste. It is presumed that she was the first born daughter, since she was named for her mother (?). 4 – She was born on 06 August 1863.
